Caleb Smith Dealing With Stiff Neck
4 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Caleb Smith (neck) said he was dealing with a stiff neck since Thursday morning. The neck issue affected his command a bit on Thursday, but the left-hander feels healthy otherwise. It doesn't sound like an injury that should linger. Smith can be dominant at times, but he really struggled in the second half of 2019 with the Fish and finished with a 4.52 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 168 strikeouts in 28 starts over 153 1/3 innings. The soon-to-be 29-year-old is worth a late-round pick to help bolster the depth of your fantasy pitching staff, but you obviously won't be chasing wins here. Smith had a 4.19 ERA in 16 starts in 2018 and has a nice 9.9 career K/9 in his three big league seasons.
