Cairo Santos Dealing With Groin Issue
6 years agoNew York Jets place kicker Cairo Santos (groin), who sat out of the preseason opener and who isn't practicing, is dealing with a chronic groin issue that required surgery at the end of last year. He missed most of last year's training camp with the Chiefs, returned in Week 3 and was then released. Santos re-injured the groin with the Bears and landed on Injured Reserve. He said it's "a normal process, just getting used to new tissue." There's no timetable for when he'll be back on the field. Taylor Bertolet is handling kicking duties in Santos' absence. It's obviously not an ideal situation for Santos. He should be avoided in fantasy even if he's healthy for Week 1. The Jets offense has potential but likely won't be trustworthy enough to support a fantasy booter.
