C.J. Cron Likely To Be Traded
6 years agoIt seems likely that the Tampa Bay Rays will trade first baseman C.J. Cron this winter, as they want more of a feared hitter with more defensive versatility. Cron split time between first base and designated hitter and managed 30 home runs in 2018. He's also projected to make $5.2 million next year through salary arbitration, so trading him before the Nov. 30 non-tender deadline makes the most sense. Cron's 30 homers shattered his previous high of 16, which he accomplished in three straight seasons with the Angels. The power is real, but Cron doesn't provide fantasy owners with much else, making him merely a corner infield option in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.
