Bryce Harper Slugs Ninth-Inning, Game-Tying Homer Monday Afternoon
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper clubbed a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to force extra innings against the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader. Unfortunately, the Braves scored a pair of 10th-inning runs in an eventual 10-8 triumph over their National League East rivals. Harper added a single, two walks, and an additional two runs scored on the afternoon. The two-time NL MVP is now up to a .296 average with 16 home runs, 71 runs, 60 RBI, nine stolen bases, and an .880 OPS across 109 games after a late start to the season due to Tommy John surgery. Harper is hitting third as the Phillies' designated hitter in the nightcap of Monday's twin bill.
