Bryan Woo Shuts Out Texas Over 3 2/3 Innings On Friday
1 year agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryan Woo didn't factor into the decision on Friday when he allowed just two hits while striking out five and walking three over 3 2/3 innings in an 8-0 win over the Texas Rangers. Woo was given the difficult task of containing the explosive Rangers' offense, who had previously tagged him for 12 earned runs over just 5 1/3 combined innings in his last two starts against them. He ran into some trouble in the first inning, walking a pair of batters, but was able to record all three outs via the strikeout. He then loaded the bases in the third inning but worked his way out of the jam. He recorded two outs in the fourth before being pulled at his limit (82 pitches). The 23-year-old finishes the 2023 season with a respectable 4.21 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 93:31 K/BB ratio over 87 2/3 innings (18 starts). His previous career-high in innings pitched was 57, which he set last year. He'll likely work out of the bullpen if the Mariners were to reach the postseason.
