Bryan Shaw Picks Up Late Win Over Braves
6 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Bryan Shaw was on the fortunate end of a blown save by the Braves on Saturday as Colorado posted a five-run ninth inning to win in a comeback. Shaw threw two flawless innings when the team was trailing by one run, and a big showing by the big bats landed him his first win of the season. Shaw was originally signed by Colorado last year to work in high-leverage situations, but he struggled mightily and has been relegated to less pressure-filled appearances now. The team would still love to get him back to the side of the equation where he holds leads, but his dreadful 6/7 K/BB ratio in 16 innings doesn't imply there's really been much improvement for him, even if his current ERA is a basement-dwelling 1.13. For fantasy purposes, it's always tempting to see a low ERA on a short reliever and think they can help one's ratios, but Shaw should continue to be avoided for now.
