Bryan Shaw Makes Opening Day Roster
4 years agoCleveland Indians right-handed reliever Bryan Shaw, who signed a minor league deal with the team this offseason, was told earlier this week that he will make the Opening Day roster. He'll receive a one-year deal worth $1 million with a chance to earn $1.3 million in performance bonuses based on pitching appearances. Shaw was a dependable reliever for the Tribe from 2013-17 before he signed with Colorado. The 33-year-old will give the bullpen veteran experience alongside young relievers James Karinchak and Emmanuel Clase. Shaw appeared in 378 games over five seasons for Cleveland and was often a relief workhorse, but it remains to be seen how much the Tribe will use him this time around after he's struggled the last two seasons with the Rockies and Mariners.
