Bryan Garcia Records Second Save On Wednesday
4 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Bryan Garcia was thrust into a tough position in Wednesday's game against the Houston Astros. Garcia came in during the ninth inning with the bases loaded and no outs as the Tigers held a 6-3 lead. Jose Cisnero, who began the ninth inning, had loaded the bases without recording an out. Garcia walked in a run, but managed to get the other three hitters he faced out, including two strikeouts. He now has two saves over six appearances on the year. Garcia pitched on Tuesday, which is probably why Tigers manager A.J. Hinch elected to go with Cisnero to start the ninth inning on Wednesday. This outing should reinforce Garcia's hold on the closer role in Detroit. He may not get all of the opportunities going forward, but he should get most.
