The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto hears that if the Cleveland Browns decide to sign another backup quarterback later on, it won't be free-agent Cam Newton. Newton didn't play at all in 2022. In 2021, he played five games for the Carolina Panthers and went 0-5 with four touchdowns and five interceptions while completing just 55 percent of his passing attempts. According to sources, the Browns are all in on Joshua Dobbs as the backup to Deshaun Watson moving forward, so it makes little sense for them to be interested in the declining Newton. It remains to be seen if the soon-to-be 34-year-old signal-caller will generate any interest from others NFL teams.--Keith Hernandez
