Detroit Lions tight end Brock Wright caught his only target for a two-yard touchdown in the win over the Chicago Bears. He and James Mitchell combined for just two targets, so neither should enter the fantasy radar, despite him finding pay dirt. Josh Reynolds (back), DJ Chark (ankle), and perhaps Jameson Williams (knee) will eventually be factors in the Lions' offense when they get healthy, so there won't be much room for Wright or Mitchell to be consistent fantasy producers.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller

Detroit Lions tight end Brock Wright saw some added opportunities on Sunday after his counterpart Sam LaPorta (ankle) suffered an ankle injury. During the Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Wright saw the second-most targets with five and posted four receptions for 34 yards. LaPorta was able to return in this game but was noticeably affected by the injury. If LaPorta isn't able to fully recover by the Week 4 slate against the Seattle Seahawks, Wright would be the next in line to get starter's opportunities. He doesn't hold nearly the same potential as LaPorta but could be in line for a spot start. Despite not scoring a touchdown, Wright registered a TE12 finish in half-PPR formats before the Monday Night Football games.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBaller

The Detroit Lions decided to match the three-year, $12 million offer that the San Francisco 49ers gave restricted free-agent tight end Brock Wright, according to a source. The Niners tried to pry Wright away from the Lions, but Detroit wasn't having it and will retain the 25-year-old as a backup to up-and-coming pass-catching tight end Sam LaPorta. If Wright had gone to the Bay Area, he would have served as a backup to George Kittle. The 25-year-old is mostly used as a blocker in the running game and isn't on the fantasy radar at all. The former undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame has only 43 receptions for 424 yards and seven touchdowns in three NFL seasons and had 13 catches (14 targets) for 91 yards and one touchdown in 14 regular-season games (four starts) in 2023.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Detroit Lions restricted free-agent tight end Brock Wright has signed an offer sheet from the San Francisco 49ers, according to sources. The Lions now have five days to match San Fran's offer for Wright after extending the 25-year-old a one-year, $2.98 million contract tender before the start of free agency. If Detroit chooses not to match the Niners' offer, Wright will head to the Bay Area in 2024 and serve as tight end depth behind George Kittle. Wright should be recovered in time for training camp this summer after breaking his left forearm in the playoff win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his third NFL season in 2023 with the Lions, Wright had only 13 receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown on 14 targets in 14 regular-season games (four starts).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Detroit Lions officially placed tight end Brock Wright (forearm) on Injured Reserve and signed defensive lineman Tyson Alualu to the 53-man active roster from the practice squad and signed tight end Zach Ertz to the practice squad in corresponding moves. Wright will miss the rest of the postseason with a fractured forearm that he suffered in the Divisional Round win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 25-year-old finished the regular season with only 13 catches for 91 yards and one touchdown in a backup role behind impressive rookie Sam LaPorta. Ertz will give the Lions some veteran depth the rest of the way, but it's unclear if he'll even be active in the NFC Championship this Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Anthony Firkser figures to be the primary backup behind LaPorta.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
