6 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers are unlikely to sign free-agent closer Craig Kimbrel, as they don't have enough room in the 2019 payroll to take on another contract of at least $18 million this year. Kimbrel turned down a $17.9 million one-year qualifying offer from the Red Sox over the winter. The hard-throwing right-hander would be a good fit with reliever Corey Knebel (elbow) needing Tommy John surgery, but it doesn't appear to be in the cards for them. Josh Hader has picked up two saves to begin the year already and should continue to pitch in those situations, at least until the club gets Jeremy Jeffress (shoulder) back healthy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
