Brewers Looking At Shin-Soo Choo At First Base
4 years agoFree-agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo has been working out at first base with the goal of increasing his versatility, and the Milwaukee Brewers are among the teams interested in him at the position. Choo has hit .289 with an .883 OPS against right-handed pitchers in his career, and a few National League teams are keeping tabs on him. The 38-year-old hit .236 with five home runs, six stolen bases and 15 RBI in 33 games for the Rangers in the shortened 2020 season. From 2017-19, he hit .263 while averaging 22 home runs, 11 steals and 67 RBI in the last three full seasons, but he's never played first base in the majors. Keston Hiura is set to play first base in Milwaukee after they signed Kolten Wong for the keystone, but Choo could provide depth at first base and in the outfield. With no designated hitter expected in the NL in 2021, Choo is trying to maximize his interest on the free-agent market.
