Brewers Cut Jhoulys Chacin
5 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers designated starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin for assignment on Saturday. The Brewers also recalled infielder Cory Spangenberg from Triple-A San Antonio in a corresponding move. Chacin fell flat this year, going 3-10 with a 5.79 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 80 strikeouts in 88 2/3 innings over 19 starts. Spangenberg has been in the minors all year and was hitting an impressive .309/.378/.498 with 14 home runs, 62 RBI and 28 stolen bases in 113 games on the farm. He's likely to be a utility infielder for Milwaukee, but he could generate interest in NL-only leagues for his speed down the stretch.
