6 years agoNew York Yankees veteran outfielder Brett Gardner played the role of hero on Sunday, driving in the winning run in the 10th inning against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees bullpen protected a 1-1 tie all the way into the 10th, and on a day when offense was hard to find, Gardner provided a timely single that scored second baseman Tyler Wade and ultimately gave the Yankees the victory. Gardner has had a disappointing 2018 thus far, and with so many talented young players on the team, playing time has been a subject of discussion. That said, with injuries starting to pile up, the Yanks need Gardner to produce at the leadoff spot more than ever. Daily fantasy players can probably find better outfield options than Gardner though, unless he catches fire in the second half of the season.--Mauricio Castillo
