1 year agoNew York Mets third baseman Brett Baty is not in Wednesday's starting lineup against the Washington Nationals and left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Baty was a no-brainer to be promoted to the big leagues as he was clobbering Triple-A pitching while veteran third baseman Eduardo Escobar was simultaneously struggling in the big leagues. However, Baty is off to a slow start in his return to the bigs. The 23-year-old is hitting just .250 without a homer and one double across 25 trips to the plate. The youngster has also struck out in 32% of his plate appearances to this point. Baty hit .400 with five HR, two doubles, and a 1.386 OPS across nine games at Triple-A prior to his big-league promotion.--Brenton Kemp - RotoBaller
