1 year agoOakland A's outfielder Brent Rooker is back in the starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Seattle Mariners and right-hander George Kirby. The 28-year-old didn't appear in Tuesday night's 7-2 loss to the Mariners but will reappear out of the five-hole while acting as the club's designated hitter on Wednesday afternoon. It's been a career year for Rooker who has hit .241 with 26 home runs, three stolen bases, and a .797 OPS across 126 games, production that sits 21% above the league average, as per his 121 wRC+. He will have his hands full on Wednesday against Kirby who owns a 3.57 ERA and an MLB-best 2.6% BB% across his 28 starts on the season.--Brenton Kemp
