Brent Honeywell Starting In Bullpen Day For Dodgers
4 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-hander Brent Honeywell, who was claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, will make his Dodgers debut and serve as the opener in Sunday's series finale against the hosting Detroit Tigers in a bullpen game for LA. Manager Dave Roberts said that Honeywell might be built up to throw around 40 pitches on Sunday after arriving in Detroit around midnight. It's a sign of how badly the Dodgers rotation is hurting right now heading into next week's All-Star break. The 29-year-old Honeywell doesn't have a terrible matchup but is likely to only go a few innings and isn't recommended as a fantasy streamer. The former Rays top prospect only threw 3 1/3 relief innings for Pittsburgh this year and allowed an earned run with two walks and one strikeout. If he remains on the big-league roster in the second, he'll operate in a long-relief role.
