Breaking Down Why Chase Elliott is a Top Pick for DFS This Weekend
9 months agoAfter finishing with just the 16th fastest practice time (15.385), Chase Elliott ended up qualifying fifth for Sunday's Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Despite not having gone to victory lane since October 2022, and while it has been eight races since he has finished in the top 10, there is still a lot to be excited about when it comes to the Hendrick Motorsports star heading into this weekend. Since 2022, NASCAR's most popular driver has consistently performed well in fantasy at track types similar to Bristol Motor Speedway. For example, on NASCAR's short tracks, Elliott has averaged 54.91 DraftKings points and has appeared in the optimal lineup three times. Likewise, on tracks with steep banking (banking over 20 degrees), he has averaged 41.11 DraftKings points and has appeared in the optimal lineup five times. While he has never won a Cup Series race at "The Last Great Colosseum," he has finished in the top 10 in both starts in the NextGen Car, including a second-place finish in 2022. Considering his past success on similar track types, his recent impressive performances at Bristol, and the fact that he has never gone nine Cup races without a top 10 finish, Chase Elliott should be considered one of the top plays in DFS this weekend.
