Braxton Garrett Earns The Victory On Monday
1 year agoMiami Marlins left-handed pitcher Braxton Garrett earned the win on Monday when he allowed four runs on six hits to go along with six strikeouts and zero walks over five innings in a 9-6 win over the Kansas City Royals. Garrett, who was a popular streaming option for this one, pitched well enough to get the win but ran into trouble right away. He coughed up two runs in the first inning when MJ Melendez doubled in Nick Pratto and then Salvador Perez singled home Melendez. Pratto would take him deep for a solo shot in the third inning and Melendez would knock in another run with a single. He was able to shut out the Royals over the next two frames and earned the win as the Miami offense re-claimed the lead. The 25-year-old southpaw now owns a 4.47 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 60:12 K/BB ratio over 58 1/3 innings (12 appearances, 11 starts) on the year. He's set to face the White Sox on the South Side this Sunday for his next turn.
