5 years agoThe Atlanta Braves signed free-agent catcher Francisco Cervelli to a major league contract on Saturday and optioned catching prospect Alex Jackson to Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Jackson has some appeal in the long term for his raw power (25 homers for Gwinnett), but there's a lot of swing and miss in his game. Cervelli is finally over his latest head injury, but he was hitting an atrocious .193/.279/.248 with a homer and five RBI in just 109 at-bats with the Pirates this year before he was released. He'll help spell Tyler Flowers behind the plate until Brian McCann is healthy. Cervelli should be ignored in fantasy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
