Braves Not Aggressively Pursuing Nolan Arenado
5 years agoThe Atlanta Braves are unlikely to aggressively pursue a trade for Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado while Josh Donaldson remains available in free agency, according to a source. However, if Donaldson doesn't re-sign with the Braves, Atlanta trading for Arenado becomes much more plausible. It's basically a two-horse race between the Braves and Nationals, who lost Anthony Rendon to the Angels, for Donaldson's services at this point. Arenado is younger (28) and has been more productive than Donaldson, but he'll cost a pretty penny in prospects. The Gold Glove third baseman is a five-time All-Star with a career slash line of .295/.351/.546. Arenado has 40-plus homers in three of the last five seasons and is one of the best all-around players in the big leagues.
