Braves Likely To Stay Away From Will Smith Wednesday
3 years agoAtlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker said that the team will likely stay away from closer William Smith on Wednesday against the New York Mets after he's recorded a save in each of the last three days. Smith has been one of the few bright spots for Atlanta's bullpen this year, although his 3.82 ERA isn't exactly the greatest for a ninth-inning arm. The southpaw recorded his 15th save of the season on Tuesday, but he'll likely be given some rest on Wednesday. If the Braves wind up with another save chance against New York, it'll likely be either A.J. Minter or Luke Jackson that receive the opportunity. Smith's 11.7 K/9 and 31.7% K% have helped him hang onto the closer role all season long to this point.
