Braves Interested In Trading For J.T. Realmuto
6 years agoThe Atlanta Braves are interested in trading for Miami Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto and are closely monitoring his market, according to sources. MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports that eight to 10 teams have checked in on the All-Star catcher. Atlanta used a platoon of Tyler Flowers and Kurt Suzuki last year behind the plate. If the Braves were to acquire Realmuto, it'd likely cost them several top prospects and maybe a current major leaguer. Marlins general manager Michael Hill said the team doesn't have any urgency to trade Realmuto and while they're listening to offers, they are also open to signing him to a long-term extension. Realmuto hit .277/.340/.484 with a career-high 21 home runs and 74 RBI. He's one of the top fantasy catchers, and his value would only rise if he's playing for a contending team in 2019.
