Braves Avoid Arbitration With Kevin Gausman
6 years agoThe Atlanta Braves avoided salary arbitration on Friday with starting pitcher Kevin Gausman by signing him to a one-year, $9.35 million deal. Gausman could never really get it going in Baltimore in a tough hitter's park and a tough division, but he thrived after being traded to the Braves at midseason in 2018. The right-hander went 5-3 with a nice 2.87 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 6.6 K/9 in his 10 starts with Atlanta to close out the year. Gausman's strikeout rate was down last year, but his arrow is pointing up heading into his first full season with the Braves. Target him as a late-round sleeper in deep mixed leagues.
