Brandon Workman Picks Up Eighth Win
5 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Brandon Workman pitched two innings with a strikeout and two walks to earn his eighth win in Thursday's 8-7 victory over Toronto. Workman did allow run in the outing, which was just his second run allowed since the beginning of June. The 30-year-old has been Boston's best reliever over that span and should continue to get high-leverage chances. However, his chances for saves could be in limbo once Nathan Eovaldi returns from the injured list as the Red Sox are expected to utilize him as the full-time closer. On the year, Workman is 8-1 over 39 1/3 innings with a 1.85 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and a 54/28 K/BB. He still deserves some fantasy consideration due to the high win total.
