Brandon Pfaadt Continues To Make Case For Rotation Spot
2 years agoArizona Diamondbacks pitching prospect Brandon Pfaadt tossed four innings of three hit ball and gave up one run with seven strikeouts versus the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. Pfaadt pitched out of relief, but has been competing for a spot in the Diamondbacks rotation this spring. Known as one of the top strikeout artists in the minor leagues, Pfaadt recorded 218 strikeouts over 167 innings this past season between Double-A and Triple-A to go along with a 3.83 ERA. Pfaadt hasn't been as hyped up as some other pitching prospects, but the 24-year-old has a true shot of breaking camp with the Diamondbacks. Rookie pitchers are always hard to judge in redraft leagues, but managers could do worse than to bet on a young pitcher that can miss bats. As far as dynasty leagues go, it may be last call on Pfaadt.
