Brandon Nimmo Has Bulging Disc, Whiplash
5 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (neck) was diagnosed with a bulging cervical disc that is pushing on a nerve in his neck, and he is suffering from the effects of whiplash after he initially crashed into the outfield wall on April 14. He received a medical steroid injection to reduce inflammation in his neck. In the time since then, Nimmo hit .171/.312/.224 in 26 games. He will refrain from all baseball activities until he has full range of motion in his neck, and there is no timetable for his return. The Mets are currently using a combination of Juan Lagares, Carlos Gomez, J.D. Davis, Rajai Davis and Aaron Altherr in the outfield, but Michael Conforto (concussion) should return this weekend. This could be an issue that makes Conforto's entire 2019 season a lost one, so you can go ahead and drop him in mixed leagues for now.
