To update a previous item when it was reported that New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo “avoided significant injury” on his injured pinkie, we now know a bit more. Nimmo is only day-to-day after undergoing an MRI. That’s obviously great news for Nimmo, whom the Mets simply cannot afford to be without with the way he’s hitting. It sounds like Nimmo will return to the lineup as soon as he’s able to grip a bat comfortably, though when it comes to the Mets and injuries, one truly never knows. Expect him to miss the current series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but it sounds as if a return for the weekend set against the Miami Marlins is at least possible.--John Smith

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (illness) is back in left field and is hitting sixth in Thursday's series finale against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Zac Gallen. Nimmo missed the last two games due to an illness, but he's feeling better now and will start against the D-backs in the series finale. The 32-year-old former first-rounder was feeling good enough to appear as a pinch-hitter in Wednesday's loss. Nimmo went 4-for-6 on Monday with two home runs, a double and nine RBI in the win over Arizona before falling ill on Tuesday. He's currently hitting just .216 (24-for-111) on the year with six long balls, 21 home runs and 13 runs scored for fantasy managers. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues will want to get him back into their lineups against Gallen, who he is hitting .143 against in seven career at-bats.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (illness) remains out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citi Field. Nimmo had a career day with two home runs and a whopping nine RBI in Monday's victory over the D-backs but then came down with an illness and is sitting out a second straight game. Fantasy managers will have to check back to see if the 32-year-old veteran is feeling good enough to play in Thursday's series finale. Jeff McNeil will start in left field on Wednesday and bat sixth against Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes. McNeil got off to a late start this year due to an oblique injury and has gone 4-for-12 with a homer and three RBI in his first three games. He's hit .267 with a homer and two RBI in 15 career at-bats against Burnes but will be a poor DFS choice in this matchup on Wednesday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Updating a previous report, New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (illness) is out of the lineup on Tuesday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks with some sort of flu, according to Newsday's Laura Albanese. Nimmo is getting an IV and could be available to play off the bench. With Nimmo under the weather, Jose Azocar will man left field in Queens and will bat ninth against Diamondbacks left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. It was a bit odd to see Nimmo out of the starting lineup a day after going 4-for-6 with two home runs and nine RBI, but now we know it's because he's not feeling well. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Wednesday to see if he's feeling good enough to return to action. Azocar has four hits in his first 10 at-bats with the Mets this year, but those playing DFS will want to avoid the 28-year-old Venezuelan out of the nine-hole.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo had a career day at the plate on Monday but finds himself on the bench for Tuesday's contest against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on the bump. Jose Azocar will start in left field and will bat ninth against Rodriguez. Nimmo went 4-for-6 with two home runs and nine RBI in the 19-5 thrashing of the Washington Nationals on Monday. It was a nice offensively explosion for the 32-year-old veteran, who is still hitting only .218 (24-for-110) on the season with 21 RBI and 13 runs scored. He ranks tied for 14th in MLB with his 21 RBI. Expect to see Nimmo back in the Mets' starting lineup on Wednesday. Azocar has four hits in his first 10 at-bats this year but will be a low-upside DFS play in the nine-hole on Tuesday against a pitcher he has never faced.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
