Brandon Montour Signs Extension With Panthers
3 years agoBrandon Montour inked a three-year contract with the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, which carries a $3.5 million AAV. The 27-year-old defenseman was set to become an unrestricted free agent. The former second-round draft pick appeared to be headed for great things when he scored 42 points in his second NHL season with the Anaheim Ducks but he then slipped both offensively and defensively and ended up with the Buffalo Sabres for parts of three seasons. He was acquired by Florida towards the end of the 2020-21 season and scored two goals and recorded four points in 12 games. He also improved defensively with an 8 +/-. He was held scoreless in six playoff games. Montour isn't much of a fantasy option unless he rediscovers his early-career form.
