Brandon Kintzler Signs With Padres
2 years agoFree-agent right-hander Brandon Kintzler, who hasn't played in 2022, signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres earlier this week. He's hoping to help the major league team at some point in September. Kintzler last played for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2021. He was a former All-Star with the Minnesota Twins and has played for six teams in his 12 MLB seasons. The 38-year-old had a 6.37 ERA, 1.79 WHIP, 22 strikeouts and eight walks in 29 2/3 relief innings last year with the Phillies. Kintzler has 61 career saves and will provide the Friars with some bullpen depth and experience if he earns a promotion to the big leagues, but he's unlikely to be on the fantasy radar to close out the season.
