Brandon Drury Exits After Getting Hit
6 years agoIn the fifth inning of Tuesday’s game between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, the road team lost one of their starters with a potential injury. New York Yankees second baseman Brandon Drury, who was starting and batting seventh, was hit in the hand, taking first base. While he initially stayed in the game, he was removed after reaching third on another single. His hand was visibly swelling when manager Aaron Boone and a trainer emerged from the dugout to remove him. Tyler Wade took over at second base after pinch-running and eventually scoring a run. If he misses significant time, the injury would be a significant blow for Drury and the Yankees. After all, the 25-year-old has frustratingly spent most of his season in the minor leagues after the emergence of Miguel Andujar. As for the Yankees, the club had reportedly been dangling him in trade talks, and a significant injury would remove him from any scenario.
