Brandon Birdsell Goes Seven Strong Innings For Double-A Tennessee
5 months agoChicago Cubs pitching prospect Brandon Birdsell pitched seven innings Monday for Double-A Tennessee, allowing one run on one hit while striking out nine without a walk. Birdsell lowered his season ERA to 3.63 with a 1.16 WHIP. He has 65 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings. The Cubs No. 20 prospect has a plus fastball to pair with an above-average slider. The 24-year-old right-hander is having a solid season at Double-A and if he builds off this start, could make a case for a promotion to Triple-A by the season's end. He has the potential to be a big-league arm for the Cubs soon.
