2 years agoVeteran quarterback Brandon Allen is joining the 49ers' crowded quarterback room on a one-year deal. San Francisco has Sam Darnold, Trey Lance, and Brock Purdy on the roster, but the latter two are dealing with major injuries they suffered last season. Lance is coming back from a broken ankle, while Purdy's recovery timeline is uncertain after a torn UCL in his throwing elbow. Lance is rumored to be a trade candidate, but even if he remains on the roster, Allen is likely nothing more than an extra arm for offseason activities and training camp. The 30-year-old Arkansas alum has thrown for 1,611 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 15 career games played.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller
