Brad Keller Beats Blue Jays
6 years agoKansas City Royals rookie Brad Keller tossed seven strong innings against Toronto on Monday to pick up his fifth win of the season. Keller struck out four while allowing only one earned run and four hits to even his record. Keller has been a complete surprise for the Royals this year as he's stepped in and found success by limiting the damage done by opposing hitters. He doesn't strike very many people out, but he keeps the ball in the yard (a rare quality amongst KC pitchers) and prevents a lot of extra-base hits. His lack of swing-and-miss stuff means that advanced metrics aren't a huge fan of him, and it's certainly a fine line when his SIERA is 1.37 higher than his ERA. That said, it's getting down to desperation time for a lot of fantasy owners, so bold ones may want to roll the dice on a Royals pitcher who seems to carry a lucky rabbit foot in his pocket.
