Brad Boxberger "Close to a Lock" to Make the Team
5 years agoMiami Marlins non-roster invitee Brad Boxberger is "close to a lock" to make the team and work in the Opening Day bullpen. Boxberger struggled mightily last season but re-worked his delivery, and besides regaining his velocity, he is throwing a pitch (an "alien curveball") that he hasn't thrown in several years. Boxberger could be a huge surprise in the Marlins bullpen and will likely start the season setting up for closer Brandon Kintzler. Things change quickly, however, and it's not too much to think that Boxberger could be closing games before long. He's worth keeping an eye on in holds leagues at the very least, and he'll be worth a late-round flier in NL-only leagues if you're speculating for saves.
