Bobby Witt Jr. Getting A Day Off
1 year agoThe Kansas City Royals are giving shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. a day off on Monday against the visiting Chicago White Sox. In his absence, Maikel Garcia will start at shortstop and bat leadoff, while rookie Nick Loftin will start at third base and hit ninth against White Sox right-hander Jesse Scholtens. Witt will be given his first day off since Aug. 7. Since that date, Witt has gone 32-for-105 (.305) with eight home runs, five doubles, a triple, 17 RBI, seven stolen bases and 19 runs scored in 25 starts. The 23-year-old second-year player is a must-start in all fantasy lineups when he's active, as he's hitting .275/.315/.500 with an .815 OPS, 28 home runs, 24 doubles, a league-high eight triples, 84 RBI, 39 stolen bases and 78 runs scored in 135 games in 2023.
