Blue Jays Weighing David Price Trade
5 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays are exploring all avenues to improve their starting rotation, and a trade for Boston Red Sox starting pitcher David Price could be in play, according to major league sources. The 34-year-old left-hander spent three months with the Blue Jays in 2015. Toronto has also made an offer to left-handed starter Hyun-Jin Ryu after already signing starters Tanner Roark and Chase Anderson this offseason. Boston would likely have to eat a big portion of the $96 million remaining on the final three years of Price's contract if they want to move him. A deal is not close with Toronto, though, and Boston is talking with other clubs about Price. The veteran left-hander was 7-5 with a 4.28 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 128 K's in 107 1/3 innings over 22 starts in 2019. His value wouldn't change all that much with a lateral move to Toronto to stay in the division, but Price's mounting injuries are more worrisome.
