Blue Jays Still View Joe Biagini As Starter
7 years agoToronto Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker still thinks pitcher Joe Biagini can be a starter. "I still envision him as a quality major league starter," Walker said. On the surface, Biagini's 5.34 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 18 starts and 119 2/3 innings don't look good for fantasy owners. He ran into a lot of bad luck between his starts and relief work, though, but his 7.3 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 aren't selling points moving forward. Biagini could surprise if he's allowed to take the team's final rotation spot, and his ground-ball inducing ways will go a long way toward making him more successful at hitter-friendly Rogers Centre. Biagini is worth a late-round gamble in AL-only leagues if he secures a rotation spot.
