6 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays promoted second baseman Lourdes Gurriel to the majors once again on Monday. In a corresponding move, the team optioned second baseman Darnell Sweeney to Triple-A Buffalo. He did not receive an at-bat in the majors this season. Gurriel, the brother of the Houston Astros own Yuli Gurriel, has not impressed in his limited time in the big leagues this season. He’s hit to a .222 batting average, but the Blue Jays undoubtedly hope he can reach the heralded potential he had as an international prospect. That said, he can be left on the waiver wire in standard leagues for now, but dynasty players who picked him up will have to wait and see whether he can keep his starting spot this time around.--Mauricio Castillo
