Blue Jays Acquire Pitching Prospect Juan DePaula
6 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitching prospect Juan DePaula, infielder Alen Hanson and relief pitcher Derek Law from the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Kevin Pillar. With Pillar now out of the picture, it could clear the way for Anthony Alford, the team's No. 11 prospect. He hit just .238/.314/.339 with five homers, 36 RBI and 17 steals in 112 minor league games last year, but those in dynasty and AL-only leagues should keep him in your radar. Hanson can play multiple positions but will likely just be a utility guy. Law hasn't been very consistent at the major league level after once being a relief prospect for San Fran. DePaula, 21, was the Giants No. 19 prospect and posted a 1.72 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 9.5 K/9 in 52 1/3 innings on the farm last season. He has the most upside of the trio.
