6 years agoThe Boston Red Sox designated catcher Blake Swihart for assignment on Tuesday, according to a source. In a corresponding move, the Red Sox are called up catcher Sandy Leon. The switch-hitting Swihart just never carved out a role in Boston and was hitting .231 (6-for-26) with a homer and four RBI this year. He'll either be traded now or claimed off waivers by another team, where he could actually wind up being fantasy relevant for once. Leon doesn't do much with the bat, therefore he isn't much of a fantasy option, but he should be able to help Boston's struggling pitching staff behind the dish.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
