3 months agoKansas City Royals catching prospect Blake Mitchell has begun to heat up at the plate and is breaking out of his prolonged slump. Across his past three games, the top prospect in Kansas City has tallied at least one hit in all of them with a home run, five RBI, and a 5:4 BB:K ratio. In his previous 16 games before this stretch, Mitchell carried a disappointing .170/.308/.245 line with just one long ball and one double. Overall, through his first look at Single-A ball, the 20-year-old has posted a .249/.391/.443 slash line. The former eighth-overall pick in last year's draft remains several seasons away from his major league debut but is developing into one of the better backstops in the minor leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
