Billy McKinney Traded To The Mets Tuesday
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Billy McKinney was traded to the New York Mets on Tuesday night, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. The Mets sent left-handed pitcher Pedro Quintana to Milwaukee in the deal. The move comes one day after McKinney was designated for assignment by the Brewers, and mere hours after an MRI confirmed that Mets outfielder Johneshwy Fargas will be heading to the IL with an AC joint sprain that will sideline him for at least a couple weeks. McKinney didn't look very impressive over 40 games with Milwaukee, posting a .207 average and .359 slugging percentage, however his Statcast metrics suggest he was slightly unlucky at the plate this year, as he also owns a .252 xBA and .419 xSLG. He should figure to get plenty of playing time in New York with nearly all of the outfielders in their system currently on the injured list. He could be a decent guy in deep mixed and NL-only leagues to target for the next week or two until the Mets start having their regular outfielders return.
