2 years agoNBC Sports' Tom E. Curran said on WEEI Sports that New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was agitated at quarterback Mac Jones for going outside the building for advice on how to run the offense in 2022. Curran also thinks that the Patriots released backup Brian Hoyer because he also wasn't bought into last year's offensive scheme. Since the 2022 season ended, Belichick also hasn't committed to Jones as the starting QB, making it clear that Bailey Zappe will compete in training camp. It would still be somewhat of a surprise if Jones isn't the team's starter under center in Week 1 of the 2023 season, but this situation should be closely monitored this offseason as the Patriots try to bounce back from a frustrating season offensively.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
