Bengals Eyeing Denzel Mims, Ross Blacklock With No. 33 Pick
5 years agoThe Cincinnati Bengals like Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mims and TCU defensive tackle Ross Blacklock with the first pick (No. 33) of the second round. Defense is probably the more pressing need for the team after they took quarterback Joe Burrow first overall on Thursday night, but they'd also like to give him more weapons in the passing game right away. Mims could've easily come off the board in the first round with good height (6-foot-3), weight and speed. He should be a nice red-zone target in the NFL, but he struggles with separation and release from physical cornerbacks. Mims will need to improve his work ethic and route-running. Blacklock can be disruptive on the interior but needs to work on his technique and hand usage to become more consistent. Cincy could certainly use more pass-rushers, though.
