Free agent quarterback Baker Mayfield was cut by the Carolina Panthers on Monday, providing him an opportunity for a fresh start somewhere new. After Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a season-ending injury this weekend, many wondered if they would be interested in the former Panther. However, that is not where he is expected to sign, although he figures to end up on a new team before clearing waivers. The new team would be required to pay the remaining $1.35 million on his contract, which is a small price for a team that needs a signal-caller, especially this late in the season. Unless Mayfield steps into a starting role, he won't possess much fantasy value, but his landing spot will be worth monitoring.--Josh Constantinou
