Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews (illness) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday night versus the visiting New York Rangers. Matthews sat out of Saturday's 7-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins with the flu that has been going through the Maple Leafs' dressing room of late. "I was throwing up all afternoon and thought I could get to the rink and maybe get it settled down, but I couldn't," Matthews said on Monday when asked about his absence. The American pivot is tied with fellow American Brock Boeser for the league lead in goals with 23 while he has added 12 assists for 35 points across 27 games. He is on pace to record his second 60-goal season over the last three campaigns, while he enjoyed a two-goal effort against this same Rangers team last week in New York.--Brenton Kemp
