Austin Slater To Run The Bases
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Austin Slater (hamstring) left the team's game against the Washington Nationals on May 10 with left-hamstring tightness while running out a grounder. An MRI exam showed a Grade 1 strain, prompting the team to put him on the 10-day injured list the next day. Slater has continued his rehab in San Francisco and was scheduled to run the bases over the next two days. The 30-year-old has also been able to swing and throw, so it's obviously not a very serious injury. Slater could begin a minor-league rehab assignment soon and could rejoin the Giants roster by the end of May. He's hitting an impressive .368 (7-for-19), but he's played in just eight games this year and has yet to hit a home run in limited playing time.
