Austin Cindric Holds On For His First Indianapolis Top-10 Finish
3 months agoIn the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Austin Cindric finished seventh despite not being much of a factor for the win for most of the race. Starting 38th at the rear after obtaining damage in practice, Cindric struggled to make moves through the field early. The No. 2 Ford driver would also catch a speeding penalty during his green flag pit stop and end the first stage in 37th, one lap down. Cindric would get back onto the lead lap in the middle of stage two due to multiple cautions for incidents. From there, Cindric worked his way to 27th at the end of stage two. In the final stage, Cindric made his final pit stop around lap 112 and stayed out to save fuel, while others eventually pitted for tires and fuel. As a result, Cindric kept gaining track position and ended the race with his first-ever top-10 finish at Indianapolis and his first of the season since his win at Gateway back in June. The NASCAR Cup Series next heads to Richmond, one of Cindric's worst tracks statistically, where he has two top-20 finishes and a best finish of 12th in six starts.
