Astros Interested In Jake Odorizzi
4 years agoFree-agent starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi is drawing interest from the Houston Astros. Odorizzi has piqued the interest of as many as seven teams, though the Astros make a lot of sense after the potential loss of up-and-coming starter Framber Valdez (finger) for the 2021 season. Odorizzi struggled to keep runs off the board in 2020 but posted a career-best 3.36 FIP in 159 2/3 innings pitched while recording 178 punch-outs, the most in his career. He'd be a nice fit pitching behind a strong Astros' offense. MLB.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Astros are $13 million under the luxury tax threshold- which could play into any contract discussions that may happen with Odorizzi.
